“If you live for weekends and vacations, your shit is broke.”
Gary Vee said that. If you don’t know who that is, look up Gary Vaynerchuk sometime. He’s the poster child for what a regular Joe can do with the internet over time if he puts his mind to it and commits to taking action.
Basically, he jumped on the internet early, way back in the 90s, and scaled his family’s wine shop into a $30MM brand. He filmed 1,000+ videos about wine for his YouTube channel. He jumped on every new social network that came around.
Today, he’s a prolific content creator running several companies, who’s doing something on YouTube, Instagram, Snap, Facebook, LinkedIn, Medium, and—oh, hell, I dunno, pretty much everywhere—just about every day of the week. He wants to buy the New York Giants football team.
Some people, myself included, like to joke that Gary Vee’s advice to anyone who wants more from life is, “Hustle your ass off 48 hours a day, everyday.” Because his commitment to getting shit done is almost superhuman.
But do you know WHY he’s able to hustle like that? Because he—without a shred of a doubt—loves what he does. He loves what he does and does everything he can to share what he’s doing with the world.
Good. Bad. Ugly. He shares it all. And in the process of all that sharing, he meets more and more people. The things he shares helps people. And those people want to help him back.
So if you live for weekends and vacations, you shit is broke, yo. I’m in the same boat—but I’m working on it. And I’m not even on the same scale of hustle as Gary Vee—even after almost 10 years of this.
If your shit is broke, it’s time to fix it. Make this your week.
Fix something. Get yourself one step closer.
