This year, I had a crazy idea for my birthday. I wanted Duluth Trading Company gift cards for clothes and spray paint for Rocinante. Friends and family did not disappoint. He ain’t perfect, but I’m excited all the same. Just need to get some GBXM decals made for it!
Inspired by the old Lancer EX Works rally cars of the mid 80s, I have the truck a quick hose-down and got to work with the masking tape. Then it was just a quick wipe with an alcohol-soaked sponge to remove any lingering oil before I hit it with good, old fashioned Rustoleum. 4 cans to be precise.
The finish is pretty rough. There’s overspray, the tape peeled back some of the paint, which has streaks, runs, “orange peel,” and crinkles in it, but that’s the look I wanted. It’s not supposed to be pretty. My truck is not Mall Rated.
GBXM 1.04 IS COMING
I’ve been building the issues over the first weekend of each month. Under that plan, I’d be building 1.04 this coming weekend. Well, V and I are hitting the road at 0600hrs this coming Friday to drive 450 miles in the above truck to Ridgecrest, California, to volunteer at High Desert Trails rally. I’ve got quite a bit already done for the next issue, but it might be a little late.
Don’t doubt for a second that I’d let it fall through the cracks. Unless you hear otherwise from me, GBXM issues will continue coming out monthly! Are you subscribed yet?
