Andrew at Ridestory shared this video with me last week. I think every gearhead out there has a favorite Nissan Skyline, assuming the unbridled fervor of illiterate sycophants on YouTube and mainstream media outlets hasn’t completely stripped them of it. While the buff books laud the latest GT-R with praise (as they did the R34 which preceded it), there are those who prefer the throaty growl of triple Mikunis and bounce of 14″ Panasports to the Skynet-powered, twin-turbocharged Rube Goldberg editions of today. In this video, Ivan Jaramillo, who owns both these brilliant Skylines, talks about why he loves them and why he drives them.
“I try to drive them as much as I can, because it’s nice to have a bunch of cars, but if you don’t drive them, what’s the point? You have to enjoy them to the fullest. You know, you buy them so you can drive them and enjoy them. Driving is an exhilaration. You put all your troubles and anything you’ve been worrying about to the side, and just enjoy the drive.”
Exactly. Thanks to Ivan for not only preserving these classy machines, but getting them out on the road to stretch their legs (and our imaginations). And thanks to the guys at Petrolicious for taking the time to so gracefully present the passion for motoring we all share.
