COMING UP IN 1.06 | Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb was this past weekend. Sebastien Loeb entered this year, so you know how things played out. (Read: Loeb enters, Loeb wins. Later, rinse, repeat.) Conveniently, the good people at Redbull apparently televised the whole spectacle live on the internet. I say “apparently,” because I didn’t really hear about it until after the stream ended.
IF ONLY THERE WAS A CENTRAL AUTOMOTIVE EVENT CALENDAR!
There is. Okay. There will be very soon. It’s called PaddockScene, I’ve had a chance to discuss it in-depth with Mike Briskie, the founder, and am really excited about this new site. It’s all about connecting gearheads with automotive events and entertainment.
Ever find yourself wishing there was something to do that wasn’t the same old, same old? PaddockScene sounds like the kind of place to solve that problem once and for all. The way I understand it, PaddockScene is powered by a community of all kinds of gearheads.
Not only will you be able to find out when just about any professional race is coming to your town or airing on TV, but you’ll stand a pretty good chance of finding other gearheads who will be tailgating at the track or meeting up a sports bar to watch the big race together.
From what Mike tells me, it’s going to be more than that, though. Event organizers and venues will be encouraged to share in the community, too. If you’ve ever tried to organize an event of any kind, you know how tricky it can be to find a place to hold it! PaddockScene stands to be the wire harness connecting us all together.
WHAT WE TALK ABOUT
- why Mike started PaddockScene
- why gearheads should care enough to join
- why event organizers & venues should care
- how PaddockScene works
- how we can all get the most from PaddockScene
- what to expect in the early, post-launch days of the community
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
PaddockScene and Gearbox Magazine are going to work together to bring a solid selection of notable automotive events to each issue of Gearbox Magazine in the future. We’re still working on how it will work and what it will look like, but we’re confident it’s going to happen. Look for the PaddockScene event section in future issues of Gearbox Magazine, and check them out on Facebook. You’re subscribed, right?
